Visiting Policies
Our intensive care units are designed for patient care during the most critical phase of a patients illness.
The units are staffed by nurses who are specially trained and experienced in the care required by the ICU patient. All nurses are Advanced Caridac Life Support Certified and Critical Care experienced. The staff is available to assist patients and their families at any time.
In order not to distract from patient care, we limit the number of phone calls. Please designate one member of your family as a contact with the hospital.
Because of the serious nature of the illnesses of our patients in ICU, we like to provide clergy support. Either an ICU staff member (at the family's request) or a family designee should notify patient clergy, unless the patient declines.
Patient Belongings
We suggest that all valuable belongings be taken home. We will make every effort to ensure belongings remain with the patient, however, we cannot be responsible for personal items
No flowers, candy, fruit or gifts are permitted in the ICU. Patients may have special dietary or fluid intake restrictions. There are no telephones in patient ICU rooms.
Visitors
In order to provide optimum care for our patients, we have a few guidelines we ask you to follow:
All visitors must use the phone outside the Intensive Care Unit to speak with a nurse before entering.
We ask that visitors be immediate adult family members only (with a maximum of two visitors at a time). Children's visits are not encouraged and will be at the discretion of the attending nurse
Visiting hours are 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Any children under age 16 must have the approval of the primary nurse/or physician before entering the ICU.
Flowers and balloons are prohibited in the ICU.
Other Information for ICU Visitors
If you require assistance from Social Service or Financial Counseling Services, please notify the nurse. At times, it is necessary to transfer a stable ICU patient to the regular floor in the middle of the night to admit an emergency patient. We will make every effort to notify you of the transfer.
You may use the telephone located in the waiting room for any personal phone calls you need to place. A cafeteria is located on the main floor. Vending machines are also available.
